Addictions
The word "addiction" is derived from a Latin term for "enslaved by" or "bound to." Addiction involves craving for something intensely, loss of control over its use, and continuing involvement with it despite adverse consequences.
It takes courage and strength to face up to any type of addiction, whether it's alcohol, drugs, sex, nicotine, gambling, the internet, self-injury or any other addiction. It is important to know that no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel, recovery from all forms of addiction is very achievable.
Counselling can help you explore underlying causes of your addictions and look at your triggers and behaviour patterns around addictions. Counselling can also help you develop constructive coping skills to help start build a new, healthier way of living.
